Tips For Managing Fine Hair
We have put together some of our favourite tips for managing fine hair at home.
When we hear the words fine hair, we naturally think of hair that is thinner or more sparse. Did you know one of the most common hair types is fine hair that is thick? The strands of the hair are finer with more density, this hair type can also have more static electricity in the hair. Naturally you will want to use volumising products, but anyone with this hair type will tell you, will only make the hair feel thicker!
Another type of fine hair is hair that is not only finer in strands, but in density too, but can sometimes feel sparse. Either hair type will come with its challenges so we have put together our top five tips for managing fine hair.
Dry shampoo can be one of your best friends to create volume in fine hair. It can not only be used on dry hair in between washes, our favourite tip for using dry shampoo is to create volume by applying it directly to wet hair in the areas most needing an extra boost before blow-drying.
Use the correct shampoo for your hair, we recommend using a lighter shampoo for fine hair. A failsafe go-to shampoo for fine hair has always been Balancing Shampoo, with key extracts of Australian Kakadu Plum, Olive Leaf, and Cranberry. This shampoo will leave your hair feeling nurtured without the heaviness.
Don’t be scared to use conditioner, applying a small amount of conditioner every time you wash your hair will help to keep your roots hydrated. Applying a small amount of conditioner to the roots of the hair will hydrate the scalp which will prevent it from getting oily quickly.
Rinse each product out well before applying the next. Washing your hair twice is a must for removing impurities from the hair and creating a clean base that will allow your products to perform better. Leaving residue of products on your hair can give a false impression your hair is flat or dirty. Part your hair down the center and let the water run over your scalp, this not only feels amazing but will help to rinse products residue from the lower hairline.
Velcro rollers are an inexpensive staple you will wonder what you did without. Use a velcro roller in medium size, spritz dry hair with water from a spray bottle and wind the hair onto the roller. For more volume over-direct the roller, for less volume under-direct the roller focuses on the front and crown of the hair.
